6 Ways to Make your Home or Workspace More Eco-Friendly in 2017

Respecting the earth and being aware of how our choices affect the environment is becoming more and more important. One of the easiest ways to make your home and workspace more eco-friendly is to use products that are natural and cause minimal harm to the environment.

Cork is a stylish and unique way to spruce up your living room, workspace, playroom, or even your kitchen! It also a great way to keep your New Year resolution of becoming more organized. And the best part is that it’s environmentally sustainable, recyclable, all-natural and organic!

That’s right, you can decorate while being environmentally conscious!

Cork is harvested by hand from the bark of the Quercus Suber, otherwise known as the cork oak tree. Harvesters gently strip and separate the outer cork bark from the trees with traditional tools, initiating the corks next regenerative growth cycle for the following 9 – 12 years. As long as harvesting is done correctly, this process does not damage the cork tree, allowing it to produce cork for approximately 200 years. No trees are ever cut down to harvest cork.

Because cork is made from bark, it offers a variation of grain, texture, and color choices, allowing you to create a unique look for your room that’s unlike any others! Cork’s surface is antistatic, antimicrobial, and when sealed properly it’s water-resistant, which makes it great for people with allergies. It also contains a waxy, fire-resistant substance called suberin, which makes cork naturally fire-resistant.
