Cork Elves

Here's another holiday craft that's fun, festive, and offers a chance for practicing your knitting skills! Have kids participate with making these little crafts by have them select different yarns for their elves.

*Please note: This craft was created with experienced knitters in mind.*

Materials

  • Thick yarn (4mm needles)
  • 3 mm needles
  • Small wine corks

Creating Your Cork Elves

Sweater:
  • First, to make the sweater, cast on 15 stitches
  • Then, knit k1p1 cuff for 2 rounds
  • Knit stockinette for 3 rounds
  • Cast off
Hat:
  • Cast on 15 stitches
  • Knit k1p1 for 2 rounds
  • Knit stockinette for 2 rounds
  • Then, k2tog, k3. Repeat from until the end of round
  • K1 round
  • K2tog, k2. Repeat until end of round
  • K1 round
  • K2tog, k1. Repeat until end of round
  • K1 round
  • K2tog till end of round
  • Draw the thread through the remaining stitches.
 

And there you have it! A set of cork elves perfect for a little extra holiday decoration on your mantle or shelf. Add a few wine cork reindeer to accompany the elves, and soon your home will look just like Santa's workshop!
